Day 17

Port Hedland to Exmouth 770 km

We departed Port Hedland to commence our ride to Exmouth. It wasn’t long until the GPS sent us towards a closed road. To get around this blockage, we needed to use a second GPS application. This detour cost us ~20 minutes.

On the leg to Karratha, we started to see some spectacular red flowers on the side of the road. At our first break, we managed to get some photos.

After admiring the flowers, we rode onto Karratha for fuel and to catch-up with Neil’s mate Barry. After nearly 20 years, Neil and Barry had a bit to catch-up on. Thanks, Barry, for making the time.

From our quick look at Karratha, it is a beautiful place and is on our (long) list to come back too.

Departing Karratha, we rode onto Nanutarra Roadhouse for fuel and a stretch. Here, we spoke with some very proud parents of an Air Force Officer who is based at Tindal.

Departing Nanutarra, we rode onto Exmouth. The scenery continues to vary and be stunning. Sometimes, the landscape is flat with short vegetation for as far as we can see, other times, there are dunes or rock formations.
