This list is not about the landscape, just what we’ve noticed along the way.
- The whistling devices to scare Kangaroos, may actually work. The Kangaroos we saw at Karumba definitely became frightened as we approached.
- The whistling devices don’t frighten birds or cows. We have both been hit by, thankfully, small birds.
- Our motorcycle tyres are lasting better than expected. The bikes both weigh 450kg with full tanks, panniers, packs, and the rider (thanks Katherine weighbridge staff). Considering the load and near constant 110km/h straight line riding, we expected to wear out the centres of the tyres. This is not occurring.
- People are wonderful and are doing some amazing things. We’ve met multiple wonderful, helpful people along the route. We’ve also seen several people riding bicycles in some remote parts of the country.
- Starlink internet is very popular with caravan and motorhome travellers. We assume the travellers are using this service for television streaming services in addition to surfing the internet and staying in touch with family and friends.
