Rockhampton to Townsville 716 Km
We changed our plan to overnight in Bowen and rode onto Townsville. Defence support personnel went out of their way to secure us two rooms at the Army’s Laverack Barracks for the night. The comfortable bed and hospitality were greatly appreciated. We spoke with the 3 Bde duty officer who surprised us by knowing about the Lap for Legacy, we also received some additional encouragement from Army personnel arriving for work the next morning. This change added 200km to the day however allowed us to spend some additional time in the morning to explore Townsville.
